Stanford University has announced the addition of Maecy Rickman as assistant coach for its lightweight rowing program. The appointment was confirmed by the program on Friday.
Associate head coach Lizzy Houston expressed her enthusiasm about Rickman’s arrival, stating, “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Maecy to the Farm. She came highly recommended from coaching peers and has proven her competitive edge as both a lightweight rower and as a coach. We are excited to bring her to the West Coast, and the team and I look forward to working with her.”
Rickman previously served as an assistant coach at Skidmore College in New York during the last academic year. While there, she contributed to the women’s program achieving a top-three finish in the Liberty League and securing eighth place overall in the varsity 8+ at the National Invitational Rowing Championships—marking a program-best result. In 2025, Rickman also coached with Ready Set Row in Marietta, Ohio.
Houston added, “I’m excited for the future of the Stanford Lightweights and know that Maecy will be an asset in our pursuit of excellence.”
Rickman is a former captain of Boston University’s rowing program and was recognized as a CRCA All-American in 2024. She rowed in the stroke seat for Boston University’s team that finished fourth at the 2024 IRA National Championships. Over her collegiate career, she helped lead Boston University to several achievements: earning the Evelyn Bergman Trophy at Dad Vail Regatta, winning gold at Knecht Cup, capturing silver at the 2023 IRA National Championships, and securing bronze in 2022 at IRAs in varsity four competition.
