Santa Clara University’s women’s volleyball team had six players named to the 2025 All-West Coast Conference (WCC) awards, marking their highest number of honorees since 2014. The announcement was made Monday from San Bruno, California.
Macy Hinshaw and Cate Shanahan were selected for the All-WCC First Team. Lexi Trapani earned a spot on the Second Team. Honorable Mention recognition went to Morgan Hayes, Grace Flanagan, and Layla Truitt.
Hinshaw led the conference in assists per set and total assists this season, starting all 29 matches for Santa Clara. She posted double-digit assists in every match and was named WCC Setter of the Week five times, setting a program record. “She had 12 double doubles this season, while posting double figures in assists in all 29 games. She was named WCC Setter of the Week a program record five times, and posted a career high 54 assists vs. Portland on Nov. 1, and 23 digs at LMU on Nov. 13,” according to the release.
Shanahan finished sixth in the WCC with 372 kills and was third on her team with 202 digs. She started all matches for Santa Clara this season. “Shanahan led the team and finished sixth in the WCC with 372 kills this season, while starting in all 29 games for the Broncos this season,” stated the release.
Trapani led both total digs and digs per set in the conference while also contributing with service aces and assists. She was recognized as WCC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week.
Flanagan played in most matches for Santa Clara and led her team in blocks while earning repeat Honorable Mention honors from last season.
Truitt also repeated as an Honorable Mention selection after leading her team in hitting percentage and being second in kills and blocks.
Hayes played nearly every match for Santa Clara, ranking third on her team in kills and blocks.
The WCC awards are determined by votes from head coaches across all twelve women’s volleyball programs within the conference.
Other major individual awards included Coach of the Year going to Jennifer Petrie (San Diego), Player of the Year to Nemo Beach (San Diego), Freshman of the Year to Alana Marrs (Oregon State), Libero of the Year to Olivia Bennett (San Diego), and Setter of the Year to Kylie Munday (San Diego).
The full list of All-Conference First Team honorees featured players from Saint Mary’s, San Diego, Washington State, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, Portland, Oregon State—and Santa Clara’s Macy Hinshaw and Cate Shanahan.
Second Team selections included Trapani from Santa Clara along with athletes from San Diego, Portland, LMU, and Oregon State.
Honorable Mentions included Flanagan, Hayes, Truitt from Santa Clara among others across multiple schools. The All-Freshman Team comprised student-athletes representing Saint Mary’s, Oregon State, San Diego, Seattle U., Pepperdine, and Washington State.
