Santa Clara women’s volleyball lost in four sets to conference leader San Diego on Saturday at the Leavey Center. The Broncos managed to win the third set but were unable to maintain momentum, ultimately falling in the fourth set.

San Diego started strong in the first set, building a 4-1 lead and later extending it to 15-8 by the media timeout. The Toreros continued their run, finishing the opening set 25-16. In the second set, San Diego went up 9-5 with five straight points and eventually took the set 25-19.

Santa Clara responded in the third set, opening with a 4-1 lead after an ace from Selin Aslayan. Back-to-back aces from Grace Flanagan increased their advantage to 12-5. Macy Hinshaw added another ace for a 23-14 lead before Morgan Hayes secured the set for Santa Clara at 25-21.

In the fourth set, San Diego established a 10-5 advantage and pulled ahead further after several consecutive points, eventually closing out both the set and match.
