Santa Clara University has announced the addition of Ashley Kurizaki to its women’s tennis team. Kurizaki, who won the 2024 Hawai’i State Championship in singles, is the first athlete from Moanalua High School in Honolulu to achieve this title.
Kurizaki is rated as a five-star recruit by Tennis Recruit Network and follows in her mother’s footsteps. Her mother, Kristy Yamamoto, played for Santa Clara in the late 1990s.
“I chose to attend Santa Clara University because I enjoyed all the people that I met there and I knew I wanted to become a part of the Bronco family. Go Broncos!,” said Kurizaki.
In 2024, she was also a finalist at the L1 USTA National Doubles Championship. She earned a No. 1 ranking in her USTA section and was ranked No. 28 nationally.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ashley to our Bronco Family,” said SCU head coach Allie Will-Van Alstyne. “With incredible variety in her game and a natural ability to elevate those around her, Ashley is the perfect fit for our team environment. We can’t wait to see the passion, skill, and leadership she brings to our program. Go Broncos!”
The university encourages fans to follow updates on its athletics programs through various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
