Santa Clara University’s women’s basketball team will host Arizona State at the Leavey Center on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Broncos have shown strong offensive and defensive statistics so far this season. The team is averaging 81.8 points per game, shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from three-point range, and 64.5 percent from the free throw line.
On the boards, Santa Clara averages 45.3 rebounds per game and has been effective in moving the ball with an average of 18.8 assists per game. Defensively, they are recording 9.3 steals and 7.3 blocks per game while keeping turnovers to an average of 11 per contest. The team holds a turnover margin of +7.5 and a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Sophie Glancey leads Santa Clara in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game on nearly 49 percent shooting and also leads the team with six rebounds per game and thirteen blocks this season. Ava Schmidt is contributing an average of 12.3 points per game and has made a team-high nine three-pointers so far, while Maia Jones adds another 11.5 points along with two-and-a-half assists each outing.
Ashley Hawkins is averaging eleven points and leads in assists with more than six per game, supporting both offense and ball distribution for the Broncos lineup. Tyler Gildersleeve-Stiles tops the rebounding chart for Santa Clara with seven boards a night while adding over seven points as well.
The matchup against Arizona State provides another opportunity for Santa Clara to build on its early-season performance.
