Santa Clara University’s women’s basketball team is set to play against rival Saint Mary’s on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Moraga.
The Broncos have been performing well offensively, averaging 81.7 points per game with a field goal percentage of 40.6%. Their three-point shooting stands at 31.6%, and they are making 71.5% of their free throws.
On the boards, Santa Clara averages 43.9 rebounds per game and records 16.9 assists, 10.1 steals, and 6.3 blocks per game while committing an average of 11.1 turnovers per contest. The team holds a turnover margin of +6.0 and maintains an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5.
Defensively, the Broncos allow opponents an average of 65.8 points per game on 38.4% shooting from the field and limit them to a shooting percentage of 30.6%. The team also forces an average of 17.1 turnovers by its opponents each game.
Maia Jones leads Santa Clara in scoring with an average of 15 points per game and has made 45 three-pointers this season while also contributing 4.6 rebounds per game. Sophie Glancey, who is currently sidelined due to injury, has been averaging 14.6 points and a team-high seven rebounds per game while shooting nearly half her attempts successfully from the floor; she also leads the team with 36 blocks.
Ashley Hawkins contributes an average of 12.7 points along with a team-best six assists per game as well as four rebounds per contest, while Ava Schmidt adds ten points on average, has made 36 three-pointers, grabs nearly five rebounds a night, and leads the squad with forty-five blocks this season.
Kylee Fox is another key contributor for the Broncos, scoring just over ten points each game and matching Schmidt’s total with thirty-six three-pointers made so far this year.
