Santa Clara University’s women’s basketball team will face Fresno State at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Broncos return to their home court with a strong offensive record, averaging 79.3 points per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range. Their free throw percentage stands at 65.0.
The team is also averaging 44.3 rebounds, 18.3 assists, 8.5 steals, and 7.2 blocks per game, with an average of 11.2 turnovers per contest. They currently hold a turnover margin of +4.8 and maintain a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.
On defense, Santa Clara allows opponents an average of 61.2 points per game and limits them to 35.7 percent shooting overall and just 28 percent from beyond the arc, while forcing an average of 16 turnovers per game.
Maia Jones leads the Broncos in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game and has made a team-high 17 three-pointers so far this season. Sophie Glancey contributes 12.8 points per game on 45.7 percent shooting, along with averaging 6.7 rebounds and leading the team in blocks with both a reported total of either 15 or 18 blocks according to available statistics.
Ashley Hawkins adds support with an average of 11 points per game, a team-best five and a half assists, as well as pulling down over five rebounds each contest. Ava Schmidt is also contributing offensively by scoring eleven points per game, making thirteen three-pointers so far this season, and averaging nearly five rebounds.
The matchup against Fresno State provides Santa Clara with another opportunity to build on its early-season performance as they continue their non-conference schedule.
