Santa Clara women’s rowing had 11 players recognized for their academic achievements by the West Coast Conference, according to a May 14 announcement.
The recognition highlights the team’s commitment to both athletic and academic excellence. Two athletes, Karolina Barrier and Madi Williams, were named to the All-Academic Team. Nine others received honorable mention status.
Barrier, who has a 3.910 GPA in Communication, and Williams, with a 3.986 GPA in Biochemistry, earned All-Academic Team honors for the first time. The conference also awarded honorable mentions to Addie Chappelle (Environmental Science), Emily Cole (Environmental Studies), Daisy Darby (Environmental Studies), Sophia Ehret (Biochemistry), McKenzi Fitzgerald (Psychology), Dominique Matthews (Political Science), Eliana Schaer (Sociology), Ella Shafman (Mechanical Engineering), and Gabi Trbovic (Psychology).
Chappelle and Schaer have now been named honorable mention for three consecutive years. Cole and Trbovic each received their second straight honorable mention recognition. For Darby, Ehret, Fitzgerald, Matthews, and Shafman, this is their first time being honored by the conference.
These awards reflect ongoing efforts by student-athletes at Santa Clara University to balance rigorous coursework with participation in collegiate athletics.
