Santa Clara University’s women’s volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over Seattle University on Senior Day, closing out their regular season at home. The Broncos had three players reach double digits in kills: Grace Flanagan led with 12, followed by Layla Truitt and Morgan Hayes with 10 each.

The match began with Santa Clara taking the first set 25-21 after key plays from Flanagan and Truitt. In the second set, an ace by Cate Shanahan helped extend the Broncos’ lead before Truitt closed out the set at 25-20. Despite an eight-point run by Seattle to tie the third set, Santa Clara responded with crucial points from Macy Hinshaw and Truitt to win the final set 25-22.

Flanagan’s performance marked her eighth match of the season with double-digit kills. Truitt achieved her twentieth game this year with ten or more kills, while Hayes reached that mark for the thirteenth time. Setter Macy Hinshaw recorded 35 assists—her twenty-ninth match this season surpassing ten assists—and Lexi Trapani contributed 14 digs, her twenty-fifth game in double figures.

This win brought Santa Clara to twelve conference victories for the season—their highest since winning thirteen in 2015—and secured a top-four finish in the West Coast Conference standings for the first time since 2019. The program also recognized seniors Amy Veargason and Layla Truitt during postgame ceremonies.

After their sweep of Seattle U (8-21 overall, 2-16 WCC), Santa Clara improved its all-time record against them to six wins without a loss.

Layla Truitt reflected on both today’s win and her experience as a Bronco: “Hear from Layla Truitt about today’s win and her time as a Bronco.” Head Coach Erin Lindsey commented after Senior Game: “Hear from Head Coach Erin Lindsey after today’s Senior Game.” Amy Veargason also shared thoughts on her career at Santa Clara: “Hear from Amy Veargason about her time as a Bronco.”
