Santa Clara softball ended its 2026 season on May 9, as all eight seniors started in the regular season finale against Saint Mary’s. The Broncos lost the game 11-3 to the Gaels during Senior Day at SCU Softball Stadium.

The day was significant for Santa Clara’s senior players—Kyla Acres, Robynn Balmediano, Leiora Davidson, Hazyl Gray, Jacqueline Lemus, Marie Martorella, Kendal Manley and Mariah Montalvo—who were recognized in a pregame ceremony attended by families and friends. The team set a program record for most wins over a three-year span with 88 victories and tied for the most West Coast Conference single-season wins in program history with 11.

Saint Mary’s finished strong with an overall record of 40-14 and a conference mark of 15-3. The Gaels scored early and often, led by Hannah Ferguson’s perfect day at the plate (3-for-3) and Braxton Brown’s five runs batted in. Sam Buckley also contributed by reaching base four times and scoring three runs. Ella Thurman pitched a complete game as Saint Mary’s secured victory after five innings due to the run-rule.

The Broncos managed three runs in the fourth inning following earlier offensive struggles. In her final at-bat, Jacqueline Lemus recorded her second career hit before being substituted on base paths. Leiora Davidson reached on an error that allowed two runners to score, while Mackenzie Olshenske doubled home another run.

The departing seniors leave behind notable achievements for Santa Clara softball over their tenure. The event drew a third consecutive sellout crowd at SCU Softball Stadium as supporters celebrated their contributions.
