Santa Clara University’s men’s golf team has been recognized with the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, according to an announcement from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday.
The award is given to men’s golf programs that achieve a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Santa Clara’s team finished the academic year with a GPA of 3.292, placing them among the NCAA Division I programs honored for their academic performance.
“All men’s golf programs who secured team GPAs of 3.0 or better have been listed as Platform Golf Team Academic Award recipients. The GCAA honors collegiate programs who have a secured team GPA over 3.0 and 3.5. The Broncos received the award after finishing the academic year with a 3.292 GPA,” stated the release from GCAA.
Santa Clara was one of 92 NCAA Division I teams to receive “All-Academic Team” status this season. Earlier in the summer, three individual golfers from Santa Clara—J.P. Odland, Calder Overfelt, and Alvaro Muller—were named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for their achievements both on the course and in academics.
The recognition comes after what was described as one of Santa Clara’s most successful seasons in recent years, during which they set a new program scoring record and qualified for an NCAA Regional tournament for only the third time in school history.
