The Santa Clara men’s tennis program announced on Apr. 10 the signing of Anirudh Dhanwada, a five-star recruit from Tenafly, New Jersey, to its 2026 recruiting class.
Dhanwada is ranked No. 70 among U.S. seniors and has won doubles championships at three International Tennis Federation J60 events in 2024. His achievements also include several United States Tennis Association Level 3 (18s) doubles titles during his high school career.
“I chose Santa Clara because I really connected to the coaches and the culture they built within the program,” said Dhanwada. “The coaches are deeply invested in player development, both on and off the court, and I believe that this is the right place for me to grow as a player and person. At the same time, Santa Clara has the academic rigor I’m looking for, which helps me to pursue my goals in tennis while building a strong foundation for the future.”
Broncos head coach Niall Angus welcomed Dhanwada’s commitment by saying: “I am delighted that Anirudh has made his committed to joining our program for Fall 2026. Anirudh has an all-court game that will transfer both to the doubles and the singles court and I am excited to get working with him. It was clear during the recruiting process that Anirudh is excited by the prospect of challenging himself at the top of Division I tennis and he will be a big part of what we are building as part of the men’s tennis team at Santa Clara.”
Dhanwada plans to major in bioengineering while competing with Santa Clara’s team.
His addition is expected to strengthen both singles and doubles play as well as contribute academically.
