The Santa Clara men’s tennis doubles team, comprised of Alexander Watanabe Eriksson and John Kim, competed in the Battle in the Bay Classic tournament held in San Francisco. The pair qualified for the main draw after winning a doubles wildcard tournament last weekend.

On Thursday, Watanabe Eriksson and Kim were defeated 8-5 by UC Santa Barbara’s Lucca Liu and Dominique Rolland in the opening round of 16. Neither of these duos had played together previously for their respective schools.

The tournament continues on Friday, with Watanabe Eriksson and Kim scheduled to play against Arizona State’s Jelani Sarr and Niels Villard at 9 a.m. PT in the consolation bracket.

The Battle in the Bay Classic runs from September 11-14, 2025, at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco.
