Santa Clara men’s soccer places four athletes on CSC Academic All-District team

Four members of the Santa Clara University men’s soccer team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-District team. The honorees are Niv Berkovitz, Pierce Dyal, Quinn Garrett, and Will Wiersdorf.

The CSC Academic All-District award recognizes student-athletes for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, undergraduate student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must also meet this GPA requirement as both undergraduates and graduates unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student without an established graduate GPA. Athletically, candidates must have competed in at least 90 percent of their team’s games or started at least two-thirds of them.

Niv Berkovitz holds a GPA of 3.8 or higher from his time at SMU and at Santa Clara, where he is majoring in finance. This season, Berkovitz led the Broncos with 16 points while starting all 15 games he played. He tied for the team lead with six goals and was second in assists with four. Three of his goals were game winners, including one that ended Portland’s 23-game unbeaten streak.

Pierce Dyal has a GPA of 3.700 as an economics major. He started all 18 games this season and played a total of 1,240 minutes. Dyal contributed two assists, including one on the game-winning goal against UNLV on September 14.

Quinn Garrett maintains a GPA of 3.896 and started in 16 out of the 17 games he appeared in this season, totaling 1,318 minutes on the field as a defender. He played full matches in twelve contests.

Will Wiersdorf has a GPA of 3.800 while majoring in communication. The junior midfielder started all 18 games this year and finished tied for most goals on the team with six. He also recorded three assists and logged the second-most minutes among teammates with 1,574.

All four players received additional recognition within their conference for academic or athletic performance during the season.
