Santa Clara men’s golf tied for sixth after opening round at Bandon Dunes

Santa Clara University’s men’s golf team is tied for sixth place after the first round of the 2026 Bandon Dunes Championship, held at Pacific Dunes in Bandon, Oregon. The Broncos recorded a combined score of 1-under 283 on the par-71, 6,633-yard course.

Jack Hayden led Santa Clara with a 3-under 68, marking his lowest round of the season across four events. Hayden made five birdies and two bogeys to finish tied for ninth place individually.

J.P. Odland finished with a 1-under 70 and is tied for 27th. It was Odland’s tenth round under par this season, equaling teammate Calder Overfelt for most on the team. Odland had four birdies on the back nine and two more on the front nine but also recorded two double-bogeys and a bogey during his opening nine holes.

Kevin Hollomon shot a 1-over 72 to tie for 43rd place. Emil Nielsen and Matt Robles each carded a 2-over 73 to tie for 53rd. Competing as an individual, Gerace posted a score of 75 (+4), tying for 73rd.

Oregon State leads the tournament after shooting a team total of 21-under 263. Nguyen Anh Minh from Oregon State holds a five-shot lead in the individual standings after posting an opening-round score of 10-under 61.

The second round of the championship is scheduled for Monday.
