Santa Clara University’s men’s basketball team will start its 2025-26 season on Tuesday, November 4, facing Cal Poly Humboldt at the Leavey Center. This marks the beginning of head coach Herb Sendek’s tenth year leading the Broncos.

The team enters the season ranked fourth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll. The roster includes returning players such as Elijah Mahi, who was named to the preseason All-WCC team, along with Jake Ensminger and Brenton Knapper. New additions to the squad feature transfers Sash Gavalyugov, Gehrig Normand, and Chris Tadjo; freshmen KJ Cochran, Brad Longcor III, Francisc Chukwudebelu, and Noah Badibanga; and former G League player Thierry Darlan.

Santa Clara has previously faced Cal Poly Humboldt seven times and won each encounter. The Broncos are aiming for their seventh consecutive win in a season opener under Coach Sendek. Since Sendek took over as head coach, Santa Clara holds an 8-1 record in opening games.
