The Santa Clara University beach volleyball team set a new program record with its 19th win of the season after defeating UC Davis, 3-2, at the UC Davis Beach Volleyball Courts on April 18. The Broncos later concluded their participation in the Aggie Classic with a close 3-2 loss to Sacramento State.
The achievement marks an important milestone for Santa Clara, as the previous single-season wins record was 18, achieved in both 2023 and 2025. The team’s performance this season highlights their growth and consistency within collegiate beach volleyball.
In their match against UC Davis, Avery Cukjati and Sadie Snipes secured a hard-fought victory at No. 1 pairs, winning in three sets after dropping the second set. Teagan Wilson and Sammy Wood won in straight sets at No. 2 pairs, while Ciara Cantlen and Alexandra Urbina delivered another straight-set victory at No. 4 pairs. Despite losses in other pairings, these results were enough to clinch the historic win for Santa Clara.
Later that day against Sacramento State, Cantlen and Urbina continued their strong play by winning again at No. 4 pairs. Tyler Parouse and Ava Stoddard added another point for Santa Clara with a two-set victory at No. 5 pairs. Several matches were closely contested; Cukjati and Snipes pushed their opponents to three sets before narrowly losing one of the tournament’s most competitive matches.
Looking ahead, Santa Clara will travel to Santa Monica for the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament starting Thursday. Fans can follow live coverage through links available on SantaClaraBroncos.com.
