The Santa Clara University beach volleyball team secured back-to-back victories against CSUN and Oregon on April 4 at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex, closing out the Boise State Beach Classic with a 3-1 tournament record.
These results are significant for Santa Clara as they demonstrate resilience and consistency late in the season, improving their overall record to 14-11.
Against CSUN, Santa Clara claimed a narrow 3-2 win. Avery Cukjati and Sadie Snipes led at No. 1 pairs by rallying after a second-set loss to win in three sets. Teagan Wilson and Sammy Wood also overcame an opening set defeat to secure their match at No. 2 pairs. Ciara Cantlen and Alexandra Urbina clinched the victory for Santa Clara at No. 4 pairs after coming back from a second-set loss as well.
In their final match of the tournament, Santa Clara defeated Oregon for the second time this season by another close score of 3-2. Cukjati and Snipes again led at No. 1 pairs with a straight sets victory, while Cantlen and Urbina won another three-set contest at No. 4 pairs. Wilson and Wood provided the decisive point by winning their matchup in three sets at No. 2 pairs.
Santa Clara dropped matches in both contests at other pairings but managed enough wins each time to secure both dual victories.
Looking ahead, these performances may help build momentum for upcoming competitions as the Broncos continue through their schedule.
