U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district in Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from tax policy and medical debt to childcare affordability and government transparency.
On August 13, 2025, Khanna questioned current tax policies in a post: “Why are Republicans giving tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy while nearly 20M Americans have medical debt? It’s time we help ordinary Americans catch up and pass my bill with @SenSanders to eliminate medical debt from credit reports.”
Later that day, he highlighted concerns about accountability for abuse victims and called for greater transparency regarding high-profile criminal cases. He wrote: “It is a simple question of whether our leaders stand with America’s children and victims of abuse or with the wealthy and powerful who are being protected. The following day, Khanna addressed the issue of childcare costs in the United States. On August 14, 2025, he posted: “If 50% of Americans think that helping working Americans pay for childcare is a high priority, why haven’t we changed the system? Our childcare infrastructure is bankrupting families. Lets pass my bill and offer care at $10/day while paying employees at least $24/hour.”
Khanna has served as a member of Congress since replacing Mike Honda in 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1976, he currently resides in Fremont. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Chicago (1998) and a JD from Yale University (2001).
