Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for California’s 17th District, has recently brought attention to several employment issues across the country through a series of tweets. In these posts, he highlighted job losses in different states, affecting various sectors. Khanna, who succeeded Mike Honda in Congress in 2017, continues to serve as a voice for labor concerns and economic challenges.

On April 11, 2025, Khanna tweeted about a significant job loss in San Carlos, California. He stated, “81 workers in San Carlos, California, lost their jobs at biotech manufacturer CARGO Therapeutics, Inc.”

In the same timeframe, another job loss was reported in Ohio. As noted by Khanna, “In Fremont, Ohio, rubber and plastics manufacturer INOAC Exterior Systems LLC laid off 87 workers.” This announcement marked a further instance of industrial layoffs impacting local communities.

Furthering his focus on employment concerns, Khanna also reported developments from North Carolina on April 11, 2025. He tweeted, “In East Spencer, North Carolina, 65 workers were fired when brick manufacturer General Shale closed due to decreased demand.” Such developments reflect the ongoing challenges faced by workers in the manufacturing sector.

Ro Khanna, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1976, now resides in Fremont, California. He has a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD from Yale University, holding his Congressional seat since 2017. His reports on these layoffs highlight economic difficulties within the United States, emphasizing the need for attention to labor dynamics and market demands.
