Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, has highlighted recent job losses in various industries across the United States through his social media posts.

On June 6, 2025, Khanna reported that “In Middletown, Ohio, 136 employees lost their jobs when packaging producer Graphic Packaging International closed its facility.”

He also noted on the same day that “Paperboard manufacturer Newark Group closed its Los Angeles location, resulting in the loss of 74 jobs.”

Additionally, Khanna shared that “In Fremont, California, 103 workers were laid off from medical supplies manufacturer Confluent Medical Technologies.” This incident occurred in Fremont where Khanna currently resides.

Ro Khanna was born in Philadelphia and is an alumnus of the University of Chicago and Yale University.
