U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district in Congress, recently shared updates on legislative actions and policy positions through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On July 15, 2025, Khanna announced the passage of an amendment related to military spending transparency: “Today, I passed an amendment in the FY26 NDAA directing the Department of Defense to disclose all costs associated with the Iran strikes. The American people deserve to know how much we spent and how much our increased troop and force deployment to the Middle East will cost”.
Two days later, on July 17, 2025, Khanna addressed concerns about cryptocurrency regulations for top government officials. He stated: “While I voted for Clarity and Genius, I’m proud to sign onto @RepVindman’s letter criticizing the exemption for the President and Vice President from critical crypto conflict of interest rules in the most recent version. We need to close this loophole and ban elected”.
Later that same day, Khanna highlighted bipartisan support for a bill he co-sponsored with Rep. Thomas Massie: “My bill with @RepThomasMassie has growing bipartisan support with 10 Republican sponsors. It’s time for us to vote on the bill today! https://t.co/LjN5eHoQky”.
Khanna has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Mike Honda as representative for California’s 17th district. Born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently residing in Fremont, Khanna holds degrees from both the University of Chicago (BA) and Yale University (JD).
