Representative Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing healthcare costs, Social Security, and American manufacturing.
On August 17, 2025, Khanna wrote: “To pay for the ultra-wealthy to get another tax break, 22M Americans will see an over 75% increase in their healthcare premiums. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. We need to pass Medicare for All and ensure all Americans can always afford quality care.”
Later that day, he addressed Social Security issues in another post: “If we scrapped the cap and expanded benefits, Social Security could continue to function long into the future. Instead, the Trump administration passed a tax break for the ultra wealthy that will drain Social Security’s reserves and could cut benefits for many Americans by https://t.co/2NOzMsGHFB”
On August 18, 2025, Khanna discussed trends in American manufacturing: “In the 1950s, 35% of private-sector jobs in the US were in manufacturing. Today it’s less than 10%. A new economic patriotism means investing in American manufacturing by building here and hiring here so the US can prosper in the 21st-century economy.”
Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1998 and earned his JD from Yale University in 2001. These comments reflect ongoing debates about healthcare reform, Social Security sustainability, and efforts to revive domestic manufacturing employment.
