Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently shared updates on his work and initiatives through a series of tweets.
On June 7, Khanna announced his town hall meeting via Twitter: “My June town hall is happening today, Saturday, June 7, from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm PT at Herbert Hoover Middle School (library), 1635 Park Ave, San José, CA 95126. Stop by to ask questions and hear about my latest work in Congress and in the district.” The event was held at Herbert Hoover Middle School in San José.
The following day, on June 8, Khanna addressed the political implications of Elon Musk’s departure from a leadership position. He tweeted: “The departure of Musk is the moment to pass @RepSummerLee and my bill banning Super PACs so we never have hundreds of millions spent on elections again.” Khanna emphasized the importance of this legislative move alongside Rep. Summer Lee to curb excessive election spending.
In another tweet posted shortly after on June 8, Khanna expressed his opposition to a proposed moratorium affecting state-level AI legislation. He stated: “I have spoken out against the 10-year moratorium on our states to pass AI legislation to protect workers, consumers, and kids despite pressure from lobbyists.” His stance highlights his advocacy for prioritizing human interests over technological advancements without adequate regulation.
Ro Khanna has been serving in Congress since he replaced Mike Honda in 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently residing in Fremont, he holds degrees from both the University of Chicago and Yale University.
