Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently shared his views and upcoming engagements on social media. Born in Philadelphia in 1976, Khanna has been an advocate for various economic and labor issues.
On May 23, 2025, Rep. Khanna emphasized the importance of raising the minimum wage by stating that “A $15 minimum wage will give our lowest-earning workers more than a $5,000 increase in annual wages.” He added that this initiative is a moral issue rather than a partisan one.
Later that day, Khanna invited constituents to attend a town hall meeting focused on federal workers. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 29 at Rancho Milpitas Middle School in Milpitas, California. In his announcement, he mentioned that “I’ll discuss what we can do to protect federal workers and honor their commitment to helping.”
In another post on the same day, Rep. Khanna reported layoffs affecting employees at SPS Technologies, LLC in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. He stated that “In Jenkintown, Pennsylvania 251 employees were laid off from aerospace fastener producer SPS Technologies, LLC.”
Ro Khanna holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University and currently resides in Fremont.
