Representative Ro Khanna, who has served California’s 17th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared several updates on social media regarding his ongoing work and perspectives on key national issues. Khanna, 46, was born in Philadelphia and now resides in Fremont. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Yale Law School.
On July 10, 2025, Khanna invited constituents to participate in an upcoming community event: “Join me for my July town hall, Sunday, July 13, from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm PT at Grimmer Elementary School (multi-use room), 43030 Newport Drive, Fremont, CA 94538. I’ll be discussing my latest work in Congress and the district. RSVP here: https://t.co/HjxsatkBh3 https://t.co/UEovEFUxtY”.
In a post dated July 11, 2025, Khanna addressed the issue of medical debt in the United States and called for legislative action: “One in every 12 Americans owes medical debt — adding up to $220B nationwide. Trump’s cuts to Medicaid will push 2.8M more Americans into debt. I have a bill that would bring relief. It’s time Congress passes my and @SenSanders bill to erase medical debt from credit reports.”
Khanna also commented on recent job losses linked to factory closures across the country on July 12, 2025: “Years of strategic divestment in American industry is continuing to hollow out towns nationwide. This week alone, 1,486 American workers lost their jobs as 10 factories closed and 7 administered layoffs.”
Khanna replaced former U.S. Congress member Mike Honda in representing California’s 17th district. He has maintained a focus on economic policy and healthcare reform throughout his tenure.
