Representative Ro Khanna, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th District since 2017, recently addressed key issues via social media. Khanna voiced his opinions on healthcare, taxation, and economic strategies in a series of statements posted online. Khanna, 46, was born in Philadelphia and resides in Fremont.
On April 30, 2025, Khanna commented on healthcare policy, responding to Republicans’ stance on Medicaid. He argued that “Republicans are denying they’ll cut Medicaid coverage but are afraid to go after real waste, fraud, and abuse.” He suggested focusing on “Big Pharma, Medicare Advantage, prescription drug prices, and hospital surcharges,” rather than jeopardizing Americans’ healthcare coverage.
In a subsequent post on the same day, Khanna advocated for tax policy reform, particularly targeting wealthier individuals. He stated that “We can provide childcare for families and food for our kids, but first, we need to raise taxes on billionaires.” Khanna criticized past tax measures, specifically citing Trump’s policies, which he claimed do not benefit the average American.
Later, Khanna addressed the economic future of the United States, promoting “economic patriotism” as a path to progress. In his view, “A new economic patriotism will bring investments in advanced manufacturing and AI-enabled factories across America.” He juxtaposed this approach with what he referred to as the outdated strategies of “Trump’s broad tariffs and 19th-century expansionism.”
