U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district, shared updates on recent community initiatives and events in San Jose through a series of posts on April 10, 2026.
In one post, Khanna highlighted his visit to the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Center for Homeless Veterans in San Jose. He stated, “It was inspiring visiting the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Center for Homeless Veterans in San Jose today where I secured $3.15M in funding to repair and expand the facility and improve support services for veterans who are homeless.” (April 10, 2026).
Later that day, Khanna posted about another local project: “Today I also visited the San Jose Water Restoration Project that helps repair the damage our community ponds have experienced from drought. The Overfelt Garden Park received over $1M in funding that is being used to repair three manmade ponds and restore the historic” (April 10, 2026).
He also attended a scholarship event organized by a local service club. In his words: “Honored to attend this year’s South Bay Chinese Service Club Scholarship event to celebrate an incredible group of graduating seniors. This scholarship recognizes students who not only excel academically, but also demonstrate strong leadership, a deep commitment to community” (April 10, 2026).
Khanna has represented California’s 17th District since replacing Mike Honda in Congress in 2017. Born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently residing in Fremont, he holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University.
