Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th District since 2017, has recently expressed his concerns on social media regarding various policies implemented under the Trump administration. His statements address the financial practices of large corporations, proposed cuts to educational programs, and threats to rural healthcare.

On April 14, 2025, Khanna emphasized the consequences of the 2017 tax cuts initiated by Trump, stating, “Since Trump’s 2017 tax breaks, 11 of America’s top corporations have raked in nearly $500 billion in profit, given $463 billion to shareholders, and paid about $93 billion less in taxes. My priority is delivering for working-class Americans. Trump’s priority is handing tax”.

Khanna, on April 16, 2025, criticized Trump for potentially cutting funding to the Head Start program. He stated, “Trump is threatening to defund Head Start and rip away support for those who need it most—defunding over 48,000 classrooms and gutting a program that’s helped nearly 40 million children get a fair shot. This is an attack on working families—plain and simple.”

Later that day, Khanna addressed cuts to state funding for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, expressing concerns over rural healthcare. He wrote, “Cutting state funding to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services will threaten internet services for rural healthcare providers across the country. Healthcare is a human right. Republicans are trying to strip Americans of their guarantee to it.”

Ro Khanna, 46, is known for his progressive stance and dedication to improving conditions for working-class Americans. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from the University of Chicago in 1998 with a BA, and later earned his JD from Yale University in 2001. Currently, he resides in Fremont.
