Representative Ro Khanna, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th District since 2017, recently addressed several issues via social media. Khanna, born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently residing in Fremont, has focused his recent public communications on financial regulation and government transparency.
On July 14, 2025, Khanna criticized the impact of bank overdraft fees on Americans. He stated, “Overdraft fees allow Big Banks to exploit working- and middle-class Americans already struggling to make ends meet. We need to offer relief and pass a cap on overdraft fees.”
Later that day, Khanna announced a legislative move concerning transparency around high-profile legal matters. He posted on July 14, 2025: “I just introduced an amendment to demand the release of the Epstein files.
Representatives should have to vote tomorrow either to stand with ordinary Americans and release the files or side with the rich and powerful.
Whose side are you on?”
On July 15, 2025, Khanna publicly thanked a colleague for their efforts regarding government openness. He wrote: “Thank you @RepMcGovern for your leadership and fighting for transparency.”
Khanna succeeded Mike Honda as representative of California’s 17th District in 2017. He holds a BA from the University of Chicago (1998) and a JD from Yale University (2001).
