Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 17th district since 2017, has been vocal about healthcare and political reform issues on social media. Born in Philadelphia in 1976, Khanna holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University. His recent tweets reflect his advocacy for expanded healthcare coverage and campaign finance reform.

On March 23, 2025, Khanna reflected on the Affordable Care Act’s anniversary, stating: “15 years ago, Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law. Now, more Americans than ever have healthcare.” He emphasized the need to “build on this mission and pass Medicare for All so no American goes without affordable healthcare.”

The following day, March 24, Khanna criticized actions by former President Trump concerning health services programs: “The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services program addresses our nation’s most urgent health problems and has historically received bipartisan support. Trump is dismantling it.” He called for protection of these agencies to ensure care for vulnerable Americans.

Later that day, he addressed concerns about lobbying expenses: “In 2024, lobbyist spending reached a record-breaking $4.4 billion — a $150 million increase from 2016.” He urged action against financial influence in politics by proposing to “overturn Citizens United and ban PAC and lobbyist donations.”
