Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district, has been vocal about several pressing issues on social media. On May 12 and 13, 2025, he shared his views on housing development, healthcare reform, and government ethics.
On May 12, Khanna expressed his support for increasing housing development by declaring “I am a YIMBY. It’s time we build more housing and enact less restrictive zoning laws. We also need more Accessory Dwelling Units.” His statement reflects a push towards easing restrictions to address housing shortages.
The following day, May 13, Khanna highlighted healthcare affordability concerns by stating that “11% of Americans are cost desperate — unable to find quality, affordable care and unable to afford necessary care.” He emphasized the need for legislative action with Senator Sanders to pass Medicare for All to ensure accessible healthcare.
Later that day, Khanna addressed ethical concerns related to foreign gifts accepted by U.S. officials: “Accepting a $400M plane from the Qatari government poses a security risk for Americans AND is unethical.” He called for restoring ethics within the White House through his proposed Drain the Swamp Act.
Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and resides in Fremont. He holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University.
