Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 17th district since 2017, shared several insights and announcements through his social media account on May 12, 2025. These posts cover a range of topics from national policy concerns to personal engagements with the public.
On May 12, Khanna criticized “The Trump administration’s plan to cut up to 60,000 DOD workers will not only hurt veterans but disable the processing system and childcare programs that soldiers rely on.” He emphasized the need for greater protection for veterans, stating that they deserve “our utmost respect.”
In another post on the same day, Khanna invited the public to participate in an upcoming event: “Next Monday, May 19, I’m hosting a fireside chat on YouTube live at 7:30 pm ET. Tune in and ask me questions about the Trump administration, what Democrats can do, and more.” The congressman encouraged individuals to submit questions in advance for this interactive session.
Additionally, Khanna addressed issues related to housing affordability by advocating for legislative action. He expressed concern that “Homeownership is out of reach for too many Americans.” To tackle this issue, he proposed his Stop Wall Street Landlords Act as a measure against private equity practices affecting home ownership accessibility.
Ro Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. An alumnus of the University of Chicago (BA) and Yale University (JD), he has been actively serving his constituents since replacing Mike Honda in Congress eight years ago.
