Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district, has expressed concerns over recent layoffs and economic issues via a series of tweets. Khanna, who has been in office since 2017 after replacing Mike Honda, is known for his focus on economic reforms and investment in American manufacturing.

On February 22, 2025, Khanna highlighted a significant layoff event in Loudon, Tennessee: “In Loudon, Tennessee, 250 workers were laid off from van manufacturer Morgan Olson after FedEx and USPS withdrew their contracts.” He emphasized the need for legislative action to direct federal investments into sectors like automotive, steel, and aluminum manufacturing.

In another tweet on the same day, Khanna addressed job losses at Tatano Wire Products, LLC: “In Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania, Tatano Wire Products, LLC, a wire products manufacturer, laid off 27 people.”

Later that day, Khanna turned his attention to the housing market: “The financialization of the housing market is driving up home costs far beyond what Americans can afford.” He advocated for his proposed legislation called the Stop Wall Street Landlords Act to reduce Wall Street’s influence over housing prices.
