Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently shared his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Khanna, born in Philadelphia in 1976 and residing in Fremont, has been vocal about strengthening the U.S. economy and improving governance.
On May 10, 2025, Khanna addressed the importance of enhancing the maritime industry as a strategic defense against China and a means to revitalize American manufacturing. He criticized former President Trump’s tariff policies by stating “Trump’s senseless tariff policies are threatening vital supply chains and hurting American industry.”
The following day, May 11, 2025, Khanna extended Mother’s Day greetings to mothers nationwide while advocating for family-friendly legislation. He emphasized the need for congressional action on paid family leave and affordable childcare with his tweet: “Let’s celebrate by pushing to give mothers and families the resources they need to thrive.”
On May 12, 2025, Khanna highlighted public concern over governmental corruption. Citing that more than 70% of Americans view it as a significant issue, he urged for legislative reforms through his Political Reform Plan and Drain the Swamp Act aimed at banning donations from PACs and lobbyists while restoring ethical standards among White House officials: “It’s past time we pass my Political Reform Plan to ban PAC and lobbyists’ donations.”
Khanna graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1998 and earned his JD from Yale University in 2001.
