Representative Ro Khanna, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently addressed issues ranging from journalism’s impact on justice to job losses due to deindustrialization in a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 4, 2025, Khanna highlighted the influence of journalist Lawrence O’Donnell, stating: “.@Lawrence’s journalism is what led to the survivors of Epstein’s abuse to speak publicly and call on Congress for truth and justice. The following day, Khanna turned his attention to economic challenges facing American workers. On September 5, 2025, he posted: “120 people lost their jobs when NSLC Darlington (Canfor Southern Pine) closed its sawmill in Darlington, South Carolina.” In another post made at the same time, he commented on broader trends affecting the workforce: “Deindustrialization is shrinking our industrial base, taking the American middle class with it. American manufacturing continues to disappear, and this week 788 workers lost their jobs as 7 facilities closed and 1 conducted mass layoffs.”
Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1998 and earned his JD from Yale University in 2001.
