U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district in Congress, recently addressed issues of healthcare affordability, Puerto Rican self-determination, and congressional proceedings through a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 22, 2025, Khanna highlighted the challenge faced by uninsured adults under 65 regarding healthcare access. He wrote, “Over the past year, 75% of uninsured adults under 65 said they went without care because of the cost. Healthcare in our country is unaffordable. Congress has a duty to pass Medicare for All and expand affordable coverage to all Americans.”
Later that day, Khanna described a meeting with several political figures focused on Puerto Rico’s future. In his post from July 22, he stated: “It was an honor meeting with Former Congressman @LuisGutierrez, Former Puerto Rico Senator @juandalmauPR, @BUDPR representative Chris Soto, and Juan Calderon and Federico de Jesus of the PRCC. Congress must continue to push for the right of Puerto Ricans to decide their own”.
On July 23, Khanna commented on actions taken by Republican members in Congress during legislative sessions. He wrote: “The Republicans running to the Speaker to adjourn is like students afraid of failing an exam asking the principal to call early summer vacation. The U.S. Congress is not supposed to be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!”
Khanna has served as a member of Congress since replacing Mike Honda in 2017 and currently represents California’s 17th district. Born in Philadelphia in 1976 and now residing in Fremont at age 46., he graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1998 before earning his JD from Yale University in 2001.
