Rep. Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 17th district since 2017, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues ranging from childcare funding to food prices and lobbying reform.
On August 18, 2025, Khanna highlighted bipartisan support for increased investment in early childhood care, stating: “Even 68% of Republicans support their elected officials working to increase funding for childcare and early learning. It’s time Congress listens. Let’s pass my bill and offer care for $10/day and pay employees $24/hour.”
Two days later, on August 20, 2025, he commented on the rising cost of fresh produce in the United States: “Fresh veggies are costing Americans nearly 40% more this month — the largest monthly spike since 2022. Trump’s blanket tariffs on fruits and vegetables does nothing but raise prices for regular Americans.”
Later that same day, Khanna addressed concerns about lobbying in Washington: “The American people are tired of the influence of money and special interests in Washington. We need to pass my bill, the Drain the Swamp Act, to ban lobbyists from giving gifts to White House officials.”
Khanna has represented California’s 17th District since replacing Mike Honda in Congress in 2017. He was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. Khanna earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his law degree from Yale University.
