Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently communicated several key messages through his social media platform. Khanna, who succeeded Mike Honda in Congress and has a background from the University of Chicago and Yale University, shared updates on his congressional activities and policy positions.
On June 5, 2025, Khanna announced an upcoming town hall meeting: “Reminder: Saturday, June 7, from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm PT, I’m hosting a town hall in San José at Herbert Hoover Middle School (library), 1635 Park Ave, San José, CA 95126. Stop in as I provide information on my latest work in Congress and answer any questions you have. RVSP”. This event aims to engage constituents by providing updates on his legislative efforts and addressing their queries.
Later that day, Khanna highlighted concerns about the financial burden of childcare for single parents: “The cost of childcare now takes more than 35% of the median single parent’s household income. Our current childcare system is bankrupting parents. We need to pass my bill and provide childcare at $10/day while paying employees at least $20/hour.” He emphasized the necessity of reforming the childcare system to alleviate economic pressures on families.
On June 6, Khanna reflected on a tragic event marking its tenth anniversary: “June 17th will mark 10 years since a white supremacist killed 9 Black worshipers at Mother Emanuel Church. I am inspired by @jamooreforsc, who lost his sister. He has called to dismantle the systems of hate. @WendellGilliar2’s hate crime bill must be passed. We must stand”. His statement underscores ongoing efforts to address systemic racism and support legislation aimed at combating hate crimes.
Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont.
