Representative Ro Khanna, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th District since 2017, recently posted a series of updates on workforce reductions at manufacturing facilities across the United States. The posts provide information about layoffs affecting workers in California, Georgia, and Missouri.

On July 12, 2025, Khanna reported that “180 workers were let go when bedding manufacturer, SSB Manufacturing Company, ceased operations at its Moreno Valley, California factory.”

In another post on the same day, he stated that “Atco Rubber Products, a manufacturer of HVAC equipment, relocated its production leaving 124 Cartersville, Georgia workers jobless.”

Additionally, Khanna noted that “In an effort to increase capacity and capability, outdoor products manufacturer Briggs & Stratton – Billy Goat Facilities cut 90 jobs at its Lee’s Summit, Missouri facility.”

Ro Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in 1998 and earned his JD from Yale University in 2001. He replaced former U.S. Congress member Mike Honda in 2017.
