Rep. Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted recent job losses at manufacturing plants across several states in a series of tweets posted on July 25, 2025.
In one post, Khanna stated, “56 hard working Americans lost their jobs in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, when metal can manufacturer Silgan Containers Manufacturing closed its factory.” This tweet was published on July 25, 2025.
He also addressed layoffs in Iowa by writing, “131 jobs disappeared when aircraft components manufacturer Collins Aerospace administered permanent mass layoffs in Decorah and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.” This message was shared on the same date.
Additionally, Khanna noted closures in Maryland: “In a consolidation effort, fencing manufacturer Shoreline Vinyl Systems ceased operations at its Dentor, Maryland plant, axing 49 jobs.” The tweet was also dated July 25.
Ro Khanna has served as a member of Congress since replacing Mike Honda in 2017 and currently represents California’s 17th District. Born in Philadelphia in 1976 and residing in Fremont, he holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University.
