Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district, has been actively voicing his concerns over various legislative matters on social media. Born in Philadelphia and currently residing in Fremont, Khanna has been serving since 2017 after replacing Mike Honda. With a background in law from Yale University, he often addresses fiscal policies and foreign affairs.
On June 16, 2025, Khanna criticized former President Trump’s budget proposal. He highlighted that “Trump’s budget would cost the bottom 10% of Americans $1,559 annually. The top 10% would gain $12,044 annually.” He emphasized that this bill disproportionately benefits the wealthy at the expense of ordinary citizens and called for Congress to block it.
Later that day, Khanna addressed healthcare policy changes proposed by Republicans. According to him, “The Republican cuts to Medicaid and ACA enrollment would leave 11 million more Americans without health insurance by 2034.” He urged Congress to heed public opinion favoring affordable healthcare and prevent these cuts.
On June 17, Khanna discussed international relations regarding potential military action in the Middle East. He stated that “The American people do not want to be dragged into another disastrous conflict in the Middle East.” Highlighting his collaboration with Rep. Massie on a bipartisan War Powers Resolution, he insisted on Congressional authorization for any military actions against Iran.
Khanna holds a BA from the University of Chicago (1998) and earned his JD from Yale University (2001).
