Ro Khanna, the U.S. Congressman representing California’s 17th district, has shared several messages on social media addressing both personal celebrations and substantial political concerns. Khanna, who has served in Congress since 2017, maintaining a focus on societal principles, took to Twitter to express various sentiments recently.
On April 20, 2025, Khanna extended his well-wishes via Twitter, celebrating a notable occasion. “I’m sending my warmest wishes to everyone in my district and around the world celebrating Easter Sunday. I hope everyone is able to gather with loved ones to cherish and reflect upon this time of renewal.”
The following day, April 21, 2025, Khanna turned his attention to political matters, particularly the influence of financial contributions in politics. He highlighted concerns regarding lobbying and campaign funding, tweeting that “In the 2024 election cycle, Big Pharma spent over $16,000,000 to get candidates elected and lobby representatives.” He called this a manifestation of the need to reform campaign finance rules, saying, “This is clear evidence that we need to ban PAC and lobbyists’ spending and overturn Citizens United.”
Later that day, Khanna expressed his condolences upon the passing of a global religious leader. His tweet expressed “It brings me great sadness to hear of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who always led with compassion, hope, and love.” Khanna recognized the efforts of the Pope, stating, “His work advocating for the powerless and the sick serves as a reminder of why we must always fight for equality and peace.”
Khanna, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and educated in prestigious institutions like the University of Chicago and Yale University, continues to reside in Fremont, California, while serving his district.
