Undergraduates Noah Tan and Adrian Feinberg have been awarded the 2025 James C. Gaither Junior Fellowship by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The fellowship program annually receives over 200 nominees from colleges and universities nationwide, with about 15 fellowships granted each year. Gaither fellows assist senior scholars at Carnegie and engage in various projects such as writing op-eds, reports, books, contributing to congressional testimony, and organizing briefings.

Noah Tan is a senior majoring in international relations with a minor in music composition, also pursuing a coterminal master’s degree in public policy. He was inspired to apply after attending a talk by Herb Lin at the Center for International Security and Cooperation. “That can take many forms, such as soldier, civil servant, or diplomat,” said Tan regarding contributions to international security. He plans to attend Harvard Law School through its Junior Deferral Program after the fellowship.

Adrian Feinberg is majoring in international relations with minors in history and film & media. His interest in the fellowship began during a visit to Washington, D.C., where he spoke with Tom Carothers of Carnegie’s Democracy, Conflict, and Governance Program. “I am very excited to be working with leading scholars of democratic recessions,” Feinberg said about his upcoming role. After completing the fellowship, he intends to apply for JD-PhD programs in history.

Applications for the Gaither Junior Fellowship are due in November.
