Redshirt junior Nico Provo has been named the ACC Wrestler of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference.
Provo, who was ranked No. 13 nationally at 125 pounds entering last week, secured a takedown in overtime to defeat Vincent Robinson of NC State, the defending national champion and top-ranked wrestler in his weight class. This victory is Provo’s highest-ranked win to date. His season record now stands at 7-3 overall and 2-2 in dual meets.
This marks Provo’s first time receiving the ACC weekly honor and he is the third Stanford Cardinal wrestler recognized this season. Previously, Provo earned Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week honors on December 5, 2023. The program has now collected six weekly honors since joining the ACC.
The Stanford wrestling team will continue its season with upcoming away matches against No. 12 Virginia Tech on Friday and Virginia on Saturday.
