Mark Talbott has been named Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference (MASC) Coach of the Year for the third straight season, according to an April 1 announcement from the conference. Talbott led Stanford’s women’s squash team to an 11-3 record this year, securing a third consecutive MASC championship and a third-place finish in the Howe Cup.
The recognition comes after a season that included a seven-game winning streak and four victories over top-10 opponents. The team’s 11 wins mark its highest single-season total since recording 16 wins in the 2017-18 campaign.
Over the past three seasons under Talbott’s leadership, Stanford has compiled a combined record of 30-13 with back-to-back seasons featuring at least ten wins. This success follows a significant turnaround from the team’s winless (0-11) performance during the 2021-22 season.
Talbott began his tenure at Stanford in 2004 as director of what was then a newly established squash program. Over two decades, he has developed Stanford into one of collegiate squash’s leading programs, producing eight All-Americans and earning sixteen All-America honors. He is also credited with directing community outreach efforts and junior player development within the program.
The recent achievements reflect ongoing progress for both Talbott and Stanford’s women’s squash team as they continue to build on their competitive legacy.
