Representative Ro Khanna of California’s 17th district has been vocal on several pressing national issues through recent social media communications. With his tenure in Congress since 2017, the Philadelphia-born lawmaker, now residing in Fremont, continues to advocate for healthcare reform and economic policy changes.
On April 30, 2025, Khanna emphasized healthcare as a fundamental human right. “Healthcare is a human right. Period.” He expressed pride in joining other legislators in reintroducing the Medicare for All Act, aimed at ensuring affordable and quality healthcare for all Americans. Khanna noted his longstanding support, spanning nine years, for the initiative.
On May 1, 2025, Khanna announced an upcoming live discussion on Twitch, set for 4:15 pm EST. “At 4:15 pm EST today, I’ll be live on Twitch with @imreallyimprtnt, @hutchinson, and @PiscoLitty!” He invited the public to engage in the discourse, which would cover America’s new economic patriotism.
Later that day, May 1, 2025, Khanna raised concerns about national expenditure on health insurance. “The U.S. spends only 14 cents on the dollar helping Americans buy health insurance and only 12 cents on the dollar toward medical bill payments.” He argued that reducing Medicaid spending would not curb government waste but instead threaten the health insurance security of over 70 million Americans.
Ro Khanna, who holds a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD from Yale University, continues to engage in legislative efforts since first being elected, succeeding Mike Honda.
