U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district in Congress, reported on job losses resulting from recent plant closures and layoffs in the manufacturing sector.
On August 15, 2025, Khanna posted on his social media account that “201 jobs were lost when apparel maker Swat Fame, Inc., permanently closed its facility in City of Industry, California.” In a separate post published the same day, he stated that “780 lost their jobs when Pixelle Speciality Solutions ceased production at its Chillicothe, Ohio, paper mill.” Summarizing the week’s developments, Khanna wrote: “This week, 1,158 manufacturing jobs were lost across 2 plant closures and three mass layoffs.”
Ro Khanna has served as a member of the U.S. Congress since 2017 after succeeding Mike Honda. He was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. Khanna holds a BA from the University of Chicago and earned his JD from Yale University.
