Rep. Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. His posts highlighted job losses in manufacturing and food production facilities, as well as critiqued fiscal policies proposed by Republican lawmakers.
On July 4, 2025, Rep. Khanna shared that “Fifty-three Massachusetts workers lost its jobs when Edaron LLC, a puzzle and board game manufacturer closed their Holyoke plant.” This closure reflects ongoing challenges in the manufacturing sector affecting local employment.
In another post on the same day, he noted that “T. Marzetti closed its food production facility in Milpitas, California, eliminating 78 jobs.” The shutdown of this facility adds to the economic pressures faced by communities reliant on such industries for employment.
On July 5, 2025, Rep. Khanna criticized Republican lawmakers with a tweet stating: “Republicans voted to rip healthcare away from 17 million Americans WHILE adding nearly $4 trillion to the national debt. He described the Trump/Vance budget as “an attack on working Americans and fiscally reckless.” This statement underscores his opposition to proposed budgetary measures perceived as detrimental to public welfare and fiscal responsibility.
Ro Khanna was born in Philadelphia in 1976 and currently resides in Fremont. He holds a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD from Yale University.
