Stanford beach volleyball players Indigo Clarke and Clara Stowell were named the American Volleyball Coaches Association/College Beach Volleyball (AVCA/CBVB) National Pair of the Week and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Pair of the Week, according to an April 7 announcement from both associations.
The recognition marks the second consecutive week that a Stanford pair has received both national and conference honors in 2026. This highlights continued strong performances by members of the team during this season.
Clarke, a sophomore, and Stowell, a junior, have played together as Stanford’s No. 4 pair for most of the season. The duo has won 22 out of their 26 matches together. During the week spanning March 30 to April 6, they posted a perfect record with five wins, including four victories over pairs ranked in the top ten nationally. Three of those top-ten wins were secured in straight sets against teams from Long Beach State University (No. 10), University of Southern California (No. 4), and Cal Poly (No. 6). The pair also clinched Stanford’s win over UCLA (No. 2) by coming back after losing their first set to win both subsequent sets.
Looking ahead, Stanford will conclude its regular-season road schedule at the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo on April 10-11. The Cardinal is set to compete against USC (No. 4), Texas Christian University (No.7), and Loyola Marymount University (No.8). After these initial matches, all eight participating teams will be ranked for final placement matches determining first through seventh place.
The continued success by Clarke and Stowell adds momentum as Stanford prepares for postseason play.
